By Coach & Boat to Borrowdale,
Buttermere and Ullswater
There
are no lovelier valleys than Borrowdale, Newlands and Patterdale;
no mountain range more dramatically impressive than that which lies
between Buttermere and Ennerdale; no lakes fairer than Derwentwater,
Buttermere and Ullswater.
This most comprehensive tour includes a lake
cruise, perfect photo opportunities and short, level or downhill
strolls at particular beauty spots, starting by taking the route through Troutbeck Valley, over the magnficent Kirkstone Pass and along the shores of Brothers Water and Ullswater.
This National Trust reserve offers an opportunity for a short walk to Aira Force waterfall. Set in Beautiful woodland this dramatic waterfall is arched with lovely stone bridges (you might even see Lady Emma's ghost). Having returned to your coach after the stroll we continue our way north to Surprise View, where we stop for photos at one of the most breathtaking views in all England over Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake , and Ashness Bridge depicted on Lakes Supertours
brochure.
Lunch is taken in the interesting market
town of Keswick. The afternoon commences with a lake cruise and
from this point the scenery assumes Alpine characteristics
with Honister Pass a wild defile of tumbled rocks as we descend
Gatesgarthdale for photo opportunities of Buttermere and Crummock
Water.
More rugged mountain views as we drive over
Newlands Pass, pausing at Moss Force waterfalls and descending the
remote and unspoilt Newlands Valley. Our next stop is Castlerigg
Stone Circle; set in a panorama of mountain ranges, it testifies
to man's presence in Cumbria 5,000 years ago. |
